If you ask Jo Ann what she does, you might want to grab a cup of coffee first—because she loves staying busy, helping people, and finding new ways to make a difference!
Jo Ann is the founder and pastor of New Beginnings Ministries, where her passion is simple: help people discover who they are, grow in their faith, and walk boldly into their purpose. She is a minister, mentor, teacher, author, community leader, and proud mom and grandmother who believes that God can use every part of your story for His glory.
Jo Ann has a heart for people—especially women who may be trying to figure out what’s next. Whether she is encouraging someone through a difficult season, sharing the Word, serving her community, or simply having a good conversation, she believes there is always an opportunity to encourage somebody.
She also serves as pastor of the Host Church at Brookdale South. And if you happen to catch her on Sunday mornings, you can hear her on “Inspired w/Jo Ann,” her radio show featuring encouragement, Christian Contemporary, and Gospel music. Think of it as faith, inspiration, and good music all in one place! TBA
Jo Ann is passionate about her community and currently serves as President of the Calaboose African American History Museum, along with serving on several community boards. She loves bringing people together, creating opportunities, and finding creative ways to make a difference.
In 2019, Jo Ann co-authored her first book, My Gift Revealed My Purpose with Dr. Onika Shirley. The message behind the book still reflects her heart today: your gift can reveal your purpose!
Jo Ann earned her Bachelor of Science in Religion/Christian Studies from Liberty University in 2021 and completed her Master’s in Community Chaplaincy in 2024. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Ministry in Chaplaincy at Liberty University, with plans to pursue a PhD in Ministry Studies afterward.
But beyond all the titles and degrees, Jo Ann is simply a woman who loves Jesus, loves people, loves her family, and loves seeing someone realize, “Hey, I can do this!”
She is a proud mom of two amazing boys, grandmother to seven wonderful grandchildren, and a firm believer that new beginnings are always possible.

My Gift Revealed My Purpose
The day you discover why you are here will be one of the best days of your life. You must remember that your gifts are not for you. You were created by God and for God, and until you embrace your purpose, life will never make sense. You will find yourself doing things and still feeling empty and unfulfilled. There’s nothing more fulfilling in life than discovering your unique purpose and living it out confidently and by faith every moment of your life. It doesn’t matter what stage you’re in, living life on purpose and in purpose will inspire and guide you to live true to yourself and to those you are called to serve.

The Bible
The Bible is the authoritative Word of God and is inspired and infallible.

God
God is one being that exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is the creator and sustainer of all things, and the source of all truth, love, goodness, and beauty.

Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and is God manifest in the flesh. He is the teacher, example, and Redeemer of the world, and his death on the cross and resurrection from the dead are central concepts in Christianity. Christians believe in Jesus Christ's virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, ascension, and personal return.

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit dwells in believers and leads them into Biblical truth, enabling them to live a godly life.

Salvation
Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ's shed blood, apart from works, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit. Christians believe that those who are saved will be raised to eternal life, while those who are lost will be raised to eternal death.
